Thirty Minutes or Less
Every panel in this episode is drawn by code at the moment you watch it: ink lines, screentone dots, speed lines, characters, monsters and the city. It grew out of the walk cycle lesson; the walking scenes still use that rig.
It plays like a motion comic. The page scrolls itself and each panel animates. Scroll by hand at any time to read at your own pace; press Resume to pick the playback back up from where you are.
Script
How it was made
- Art style: black ink on white with dot screentone, focus lines and impact frames, in the tradition of action manga. Gag scenes use simple faces; serious moments switch to heavy shading.
- Characters are 2D puppets with jointed limbs, outfits and faces. Mouths open and close with the letters as each speech bubble types out.
- Backgrounds use a perspective camera, so streets, windows, signs and wires recede correctly.
- Sound effects are synthesized in the browser. Nothing is a recording or an image file.
